Breveté de l’École de Guerre et Auditeur de la 3ème promotion du Centre des Hautes Etudes du Ministère de l’Intérieur, il a également commandé différentes unités de gendarmerie mobile et départementale, et notamment l’Office Central de Lutte contre la Délinquance Itinérante et la région de gendarmerie d'Alsace. Il est ensuite directeur adjoint de la direction de la coopération internationale (DCI), service commun à la DGPN et DGGN.
